Drybridge Vet Services
We aim to provide a full range of veterinary services to our clients - from health checks to emergency work, from vaccinations to diagnostic investigations.
Both branches of the practice provide facilities for consultations and routine surgical procedures so the majority of cases requiring an operation will be dealt with entirely at their home surgery. We provide secure kennelling and comfortable bedding for patients admitted for surgical procedures or hospitalisation.
Our radiography unit is housed in the Monmouth branch so if your pet requires X-rays then they will need to be taken to Monmouth. In addition, Monmouth is also equipped for orthopaedic surgery, allowing us to undertake fracture repairs and joint surgery there. Diagnostic ultrasound and ECG machine are also available for further diagnostic work.
If you think your pet may require surgical or dental treatment please make an appointment with the vet in order that an initial assessment can be made - we check their overall health and suitability for anaesthesia as well as plan what the operation may entail before we can book them in.
In house laboratory equipment allows us to provide rapid blood test results for a range of diagnostic investigations. We also use external veterinary laboratories for more specialised diagnostic tests.
Our computerised record system means that the vets always have access to your animal's medical history even if you have been seen in the other surgery.
On site pharmacies stock the vast majority of drugs that we prescribe allowing for convenient collection. If a particular drug is not in stock then we can usually supply it the following working day. For repeat prescriptions we would ask you to phone beforehand so that we can have them ready for you in advance.
The majority of small animal cases are best dealt with in the surgery but we can provide house visits if appropriate.
Out Of Hours Emergency Service
In common with all veterinary practices we are responsible for providing our clients with a 24 hour emergency service 365 days a year. We undertake our own emergency work and so you will be seen by a member of the practice with full access to your records. You may be required to take your pet to the other branch of Drybridge Veterinary Clinic in order for the duty vet to deal with you promptly. The duty vet can call on nursing assistance for more complicated procedures when necessary.
If you need to contact the emergency vet out of hours then phone the usual surgery number and our answering service will contact us with your details. We will phone you back to assess the situation as soon as possible but please note that there may be a short delay if the vet is already on a call or seeing another case.
Large Animal Services
The vets' vehicles are stocked to provide mobile veterinary services for farm and equine clients. As well as providing help in emergency situations we also carry out regular herd management visits in addition to routine disbudding and castrating. We can provide written health plans which are drawn up in conjunction with the farmer to ensure that they are actually practical and useful.
In addition to the traditional farm species we also deal with llamas and alpacas and are happy to undertake work for smallholders and hobby farmers as well as our larger agricultural clients.
Routine equine work covers geldings, vaccinations, dental rasping and the diagnosis and treatment of illness. Please note that for pre-purchase examinations we advise you to use the services of an equine specialist practice - details can be provided on request.
